In the middle of last year, a blockchain committee was founded at the VDMA with the aim of establishing a platform for the exchange of information on blockchain technology. At the last meeting of the committee, PROSTEP presented a use case that shows how the authorship of complex CAD models can be proven beyond doubt using the technology.
Last year, PROSTEP introduced the first connector that connects the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud to OpenPDM, thus allowing engineering data and ERP data to be linked via the integration platform. PROSTEP has continued to develop the connector and now additional data objects can be exchanged and geometry information can be made available in native or neutral formats.
Up-to-date 3D documentation not only makes it easier to maintain and operate plants, it is also vital when it comes to modernizing them. However, creating CAD models or digital twins of existing plants manually is a time-consuming and costly process. PROSTEP’s AI-based 3DigitalTwin solution can make this process much faster.

The study “Future Skills in Mechanical and Plant Engineering”, which was conducted by the VDMA in cooperation with the consulting firm Kienbaum, explains what these skills are.

At the Forum Digital Technologies in Berlin, over 2,000 people have seen the demonstrator of the blockchain solution that PROSTEP developed together with partners as part of the SAMPL project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The solution enables the tamper-proof exchange of 3D print and process data and the unambiguous identification of the printed components.
