OpenPDM Ship facilitates the integration of SSI’s Autodesk-based ship development solution ShipConstructor with other CAD and PDM systems. The SSI User Conference is being held from 30 September to 2 October 2019 at the Marriott Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal.
Darmstadt, August 2019 – PROSTEP AG will be presenting its new OpenPDM Ship integration platform to a wider audience for the first time at the 19th International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding (ICCAS) in Rotterdam. OpenPDM Ship uses standardized connectors to connect shipbuilding-specific development platforms with all the leading PDM/PLM and ERP systems as well as mechanical CAD systems, thus creating the prerequisites for end-to-end digital processes in the shipbuilding and shipping industries.

The automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler has decided to use PROSTEP’s OpenPDM integration platform to connect its existing PLM and ERP system landscape to the new Engineering Cockpit in Aras Innovator. We are also developing a new connector for Schaeffler that will connect the application lifecycle management (ALM) system PTC Integrity Lifecycle Management (ILM).
PROSTEP continues to expand the world’s leading PLM integration platform OpenPDM by adding standard connectors that allow a wide range of different PLM, ERP and other backend systems to be connected “as-is” and the data to be synchronized or migrated. The company recently created a seamless integration between the cloud PLM solution from Arena Solutions and SAP’s ERP system, which is already in productive use at customer sites in the USA.
With the appointment of Dr. Karsten Theis as a new member of the Executive Board, PROSTEP has initiated a generational change in management just in time for the company’s 25th anniversary. At this year’s Schiff&Hafen Maritim 4.0 conference, PROSTEP’s shipbuilding experts outlined the challenges faced when it comes to end-to-end digitalization in the maritime supply chain and the benefits of a digital vessel twin. The choice of topic for their presentation was a good one, as the event is primarily attended by shipping experts who are interested in optimizing their working fleet.
Migration of CAD and PLM data often presents the greatest obstacle when moving to a different system. With the support of PROSTEP, the Swiss company Jansen AG, which manufactures precision steel tubes and steel profile systems as well as plastic tubes for the construction and industrial sectors, has successfully overcome the challenges of data migration when consolidating its heterogeneous CAD/PLM landscape.
