CENIT and PROSTEP Announce Strategic Cooperation for PLM Integration, PLM Migration and Collaboration

The PLM consulting and software companies CENIT and PROSTEP are bundling their expertise and products in the fields of system integration, system migration, process automation, and collaboration with the aim of providing their customers with even more powerful solutions. CENIT is contributing its decades of experience with the software platforms from Dassault Systèmes and SAP to the strategic cooperation.

PROSTEP NAPA Steel and AVEVA Marine Hul Interface

PROSTEP develops NAPA to AVEVA marine interface

An integration platform for napa steel and aveva marine hull

The end-to-end use of digital information in the shipbuilding industry demands the integration of a large number of different systems, which are used for different tasks and domains. PROSTEP offers a standards-based integration platform for this purpose that facilitates fast connection of all the relevant IT systems. In the future, it will also support the exchange of data between NAPA Steel and AVEVA Marine Hull.

PROSTEP Helps Meyer Group to Build Cruise Ships on a Common Platform

Cruise ships are typically not designed from scratch, but so far there is no systematic reuse of existing design. Now Finish shipyard Meyer Turku starts to create the first of two ships using a common platform developed together with German counterpart Meyer Werft. German PLM specialist PROSTEP helps Meyer Turku to overcome the challenge of working with different CAD tools in hull design and outfitting.

Ship classification using 3D PDF technology from PROSTEP

Ship classification (class approval) normally involves the exchange of numerous large-format drawings between a shipyard and a classification society. In addition to this, Meyer Werft in Papenburg will for the first time also be providing the classification company DNV GL with 3D models of a cruise ship. The digital class approval process is based on PROSTEP’s 3D PDF technology.

Improve Your PLM/CAD Data Migration Strategy

PLM/CAD Data Migration is difficult and complex.

However, you can increase your chances of success and ensure a smoother, less expensive process by implementing a sound migration strategy. Whether you plan to transfer legacy data to modern systems or migrate to a new system to adapt to the ever-changing IT landscape, you must strategize accordingly.

PROSTEP Meyer Group

Multi-CAD is the Key to Shaping our Future CAD/PLM Environment – An Interview with Dr. Jan Meyer

The Meyer Group, one of the world’s leading builders of cruise ships, has adopted the platform concept to develop and build ships whose appearances differ, but which share a common technical basis. PROSTEP’s native CAD conversion was a decisive factor in the reuse of design data from the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg at Meyer’s Turku shipyard in Finland. Managing Director Dr. Jan Meyer explains the challenges that accompany this innovative approach to shipbuilding.

New OpenPDM Connectors for PLM Integration

PROSTEP has expanded the options it offers for integrating systems in heterogeneous PLM landscapes. In addition to the tried-and-tested standard connectors for 3D EXPERIENCE, ARAS Innovator, AutoDesk Vault, EKM, SAP, SIM Manager, Teamcenter and PTC Windchill, the PLM integration and migration solution OpenPDM now also offers connectors to SharePoint, HELiOS and CIM Database PLM. They were developed as part of customer projects.

Shift to Model Based Systems Engineering

In the past, engineering projects revolved around ‘document’ and ‘drawing’ centric processes which each contained fragments of information about the whole system. The major downside to this model was that it failed to keep and manage the ‘pieces of information and their connections’. This model also lacked quick access and consistent traceability when project data was examined. It became difficult to assess project completeness, architecture integration, consistency of requirements, change impacts, verification, validation, and end-to-end traceability.

PROSTEP SONACA

PROSTEP Leads Global Aerospace Company through Teamcenter Migration and Sharepoint Document Management with Plans for Secure Data Exchange

Numerous questions and challenges arise when a PLM migration becomes a company’s strategy to improve their systems. Additionally, increased risks and inexperienced specialists may contribute to longer than expected project times. This is primarily true within the aerospace industry where long product lifecycles and strict traceability requirements are common.
