ALM

What is the state of the automotive OEM’s ALM strategy?

The growing proportion of software and electrics/electronics in products, the associated increase in product complexity, ever stricter legal requirements, and support for new business models make end-to-end digitalization across different domains a MUST for automotive OEMs. It will, however, be a long and arduous journey. So, what does the automotive OEM’s ALM strategy look like?

PROSTEP Growth

PROSTEP expects strong growth this year

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, PROSTEP continued to grow and hire additional staff during the course of the last business year. We expect an even stronger surge in growth in 2022. We are urgently looking for new employees and partners who can help us turn our ambitious plans for growth into action and provide us with support in implementation projects.

PLM

Putzmeister integrates French subsidiary in group-wide environment

Heterogeneous IT system landscapes lead to higher IT costs and make collaboration more difficult. Putzmeister has therefore consolidated the CAD and PDM landscape at its French subsidiary PL2M and integrated it in the group-wide environment. The PLM experts at PROSTEP assumed responsibility for converting and migrating the Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire data, including the design history, to the NX format.

PLM ALM Webinar

Webinar on state of PLM and ALM integration in industry

Digital Thread or digital continuity are a major challenge for manufacturers of mechatronic and software-driven products. In particular, the integration of application lifecycle management (ALM) with other domains is often still deficient. This is one of the key findings of a joint study presented by PROSTEP subsidiary BHC and PROSTEP in a webinar.

PROSTEP Presentations at VVM Funding Project’s Mid-term Event

How can automated driving systems be reliably tested and safely put on the road? This is the subject of the project “Verification & Validation Methods” (VVM), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. At the mid-term event on March 15 and 16 participants will present initial results. Project partner PROSTEP will also be represented at the online event with two presentations. The PROSTEP speakers will present the demonstrator of a traceability solution (TRACY) that supports the verification and validation process. It is developed as part of the project and is freely available to all participants for the duration of the event.

PROSTEP Study on the Interaction between PLM and ALM

How do manufacturers of software-driven products strike a balance between PLM and ALM? This question was examined in a joint study conducted by PROSTEP and PROSTEP’s subsidiary BHC for which companies from a number of different industries were surveyed. A key finding of the study is that the level of integration between product and application lifecycle management is currently insufficient to ensure end-to-end digitalization and traceability.

Secure data exchange from the Active Workspace client

PROSTEP AG has begun delivering the new version 9.3 of its data exchange platform OpenDXM GlobalX. It not only makes it easier for system administrators to do their job but also provides greater security thanks to two-factor authentication. PROSTEP has also expanded its extensive range of PDM/PLM integrations to include an integration to the Active Workspace client from Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Kautex OpenPDM Integration to Polarion

Kautex Tests New OpenPDM Integration to Polarion

PROSTEP AG has expanded its PLM integration platform OpenPDM to include a new connector to Polarion, the application lifecycle management (ALM) system from Siemens Digital Industries Software. The software and consulting company is thus improving capabilities for integrating ALM systems, which are becoming increasingly important as a result of the high proportion of software in products. The first customer to evaluate the new connector will be the automotive supplier Kautex. The company’s aim is to use the OpenPDM platform to synchronize ALM data with its development partners.

Waiting for the starting shot for cloud PLM

Surprisingly little has been heard about the subject of cloud PLM in the last few months. Might that be the calm before the storm? You get the impression that PLM vendors and many user companies are crouched at the starting line, waiting for the starting shot but don’t yet dare to extend their legs because they don’t want to risk jumping the gun. And that even though the seemingly endless coronavirus pandemic offers an ideal opportunity to start modernizing the now aging PLM landscapes and trying out one or two new things.
