PROSTEP’s provides support for proactive production control in the shipbuilding industry

Maritime systems such as cruise ships and frigates comprise several million components, far exceeding the magnitude of other industrial products. This poses particular challenges for shipyards in terms of production planning and control. As part of the ProProS project, PROSTEP has developed a new planning methodology based on a digital twin together with the Lürssen shipyard group and the Machine Tool Laboratory (WZL) at RWTH University in Aachen, with the aim of providing shipyards with better supports. The project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK), was brought to a successful close at the end of May.

PROSTEP sponsors TU Darmstadt’s DART Racing Team

The DART Racing Team at TU Darmstadt recently unveiled the pi2023 electric bolide, with which the team will compete in four Formula Student competitions this summer in the categories Electric and Driverless. The PROSTEP logo has been emblazoned on the monocoque of the newly designed vehicle for the first time. The Darmstadt-based PLM consulting and software company is now supporting the Formula Student team of the local TU as a Gold Sponsor. PROSTEP had previously sponsored students by donating powerful computers for performing complex simulation tasks.

PROSTEP supports the exchange of 3D data in OCX format

Darmstadt, May 2023 – In the absence of a universally accepted format for exchanging 3D data, shipyards, design offices and classification societies have up until now continued to exchange drawings of the hull structure, especially in the early design phase. With OCX, however, that is due to change. The companies involved want to establish drawing-free processes and drastically reduce the time and effort needed to create drawings or new designs in special calculation tools with the help of the new standard. As a member of the OCX consortium, PROSTEP develops solutions that enable the use of OCX data in IT systems that do not yet support this standard.

Philipp Hasenäcker to join PROSTEP AG’s executive board

PROSTEP AG is expanding and rejuvenating its executive board: PROSTEP’s supervisory board has appointed Philipp Hasenäcker, managing director of PROSTEP’s subsidiary BHC GmbH, to the company’s executive board, effective 1 May 2023. In his new role, he will assume responsibility for consulting and will help his two colleagues on the executive board, Bernd Pätzold and Karsten Theis, expand the company’s consulting and solutions offering in the direction of software-driven business.

In order to achieve end-to-end digitalization, companies need not only powerful integration and collaboration solutions, but also expert advice and support in transforming their PLM architectures. At PROSTEP INSIGHT DAYS 2023, they found both from a single source. Around 150 customers and interested parties used the online event to find out about PROSTEP’s comprehensive portfolio of consulting and solutions for designing digital continuity. All administration tasks in OpenDXM GlobalX 9.4 now in the web

Darmstadt, January 2023 – PROSTEP AG’s maintenance customers can now download the new version 9.4 of the OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange platform via the customer portal. The major release not only makes it easier for system administrators to go about their work but also extends the PDM integrations. In addition, it optimizes data handling in distributed environments with the aid of alternative FileVaults.
