PLM Modules

Modules for efficient PLM system selection

Many manufacturing companies work with PDM/PLM solutions that are not being developed further and/or are no longer able to meet changed functional requirements. They often lack employees who have the skills needed to find an alternative. As a vendor-neutral consulting company that knows the PLM market well, PROSTEP can provide them with the support they need when it comes to selecting an appropriate system.

OpenPDM 3DExperience Integration

OpenPDM supports new use cases for the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud

Last year, PROSTEP introduced the first connector that connects the 3DEXPERIENCE cloud to OpenPDM, thus allowing engineering data and ERP data to be linked via the integration platform. PROSTEP has continued to develop the connector and now additional data objects can be exchanged and geometry information can be made available in native or neutral formats.

New market study: Digital transformation requires employees with new skills

Mechanical and plant engineering in Germany is in the midst of digital transformation. This means fundamental technological changes, which at the same time require new skills from employees. The study “Future Skills in Mechanical and Plant Engineering”, which was conducted by the VDMA in cooperation with the consulting firm Kienbaum, explains what these skills are.

OpenCLM

New business models need the digital twin

New service-oriented business models not only encourage a more sustainable economy but also represent a financial win-win situation for both providers and consumers. Manufacturers who offer their products as a service retain their customers over the long term and gain easier access to operational data that enables them to optimize products while they are in operation and make targeted improvements to the next generation of products. Customers reduce their investment costs or transform them into running costs. They get what the product is supposed to do in the form of a service at a clearly calculable conditions without having to worry about maintenance or replacement.

end to end digitalization white paper

End to End Digitalization Between Product Development and Production

In order to make production processes more flexible and control them more efficiently, IT systems for manufacturing process planning must be seamlessly integrated into the digital information flows between the PDM/PLM and ERP worlds. This white paper explains how the digital thread can be spun from product development through manufacturing process planning to production.

PLM ALM Webinar

Webinar on state of PLM and ALM integration in industry

Digital Thread or digital continuity are a major challenge for manufacturers of mechatronic and software-driven products. In particular, the integration of application lifecycle management (ALM) with other domains is often still deficient. This is one of the key findings of a joint study presented by PROSTEP subsidiary BHC and PROSTEP in a webinar.

PROSTEP Presentations at VVM Funding Project’s Mid-term Event

How can automated driving systems be reliably tested and safely put on the road? This is the subject of the project “Verification & Validation Methods” (VVM), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. At the mid-term event on March 15 and 16 participants will present initial results. Project partner PROSTEP will also be represented at the online event with two presentations. The PROSTEP speakers will present the demonstrator of a traceability solution (TRACY) that supports the verification and validation process. It is developed as part of the project and is freely available to all participants for the duration of the event.

OpenPDM 9.3 provides even more links to the ALM and ERP world

With version 9.3, PROSTEP will this year be presenting the second major release of its OpenPDM platform for PLM integration, migration and collaboration. The main focus of its further development was, on the one hand, placed on improving connectivity to the ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) and ERP world and, on the other hand, enhancing the user-friendliness of the interfaces and reporting functions. Another highlight is the fact that OpenPDM is now even easier to deploy in cloud scenarios.

Digital Thread

The Digital Thread makes complexity manageable

Nowadays, manufacturing industry uses highly complex IT systems to develop equally highly complex products that include an increasing number of electronic and software components. However, the attempt to cast out the devil of complexity with complex PLM solutions is increasingly being stretched to the limit. If users are to get to grips with this complexity, they need applications that are as innovative as they are easy to use.
