ChatGPT has transformed artificial intelligence (AI) into a topic that is surrounded by a lot of hype. While AI is already being used in production, it is only just starting to be adopted in the product development field. In an interview for the PROSTEP Newsletter, Professor Roman Dumitrescu, one of the directors of the Fraunhofer IEM in Paderborn, explains the potentials that enterprises are letting pass them by.
At PROSTEP, over 80 programmers work on the software solutions that we develop ourselves and help big-name customers develop their own PLM applications. The use of agile methods has enabled us to increase the efficiency of our development teams continuously in recent years. The next step in the improvement process is the use of AI-based development tools.
Artificial intelligence (AI) promises enormous benefits in a variety of very different application areas. PROSTEP is taking account of this fact with a comprehensive range of consulting services that cover all aspects of AI and AI-based solutions. We place clear focus on the automation and optimization of our customers’ PLM processes with the help of different AI methods.
Thanks in no small part to ChatGPT and Co., artificial intelligence (AI) has arrived in our day-to-day lives, in our private and professional worlds, and is here to stay. There is a lot of hype surrounding AI, which is further fueled by the media. The other day, the German Tagesschau television news service managed to feature three AI-related contributions from completely different contexts in a single broadcast. Numerous companies are giving thought to how and for what purpose they can deploy AI effectively – that is, if they have not already launched their first projects. We here at PROSTEP are also taking a long hard look at what changes AI will bring for us and how we can provide our customers with the support they need when it comes to deploying AI.
Electrics/electronics (E/E) and software are of key importance for the vehicle development process today. In an interview with the PROSTEP newsletter, Ralf Rentschler explains how software can be deployed in vehicles faster and what role AI plays when it comes to speeding up development. Ralf Rentschler is team leader of IT System Integration, E/E Documentation and Validation at Mercedes-Benz AG.
PROSTEP presented an innovative approach to the automatic conversion of 3D scan data for existing plants into a digital twin at Schuller & Company’s DACH User Meeting. This makes both the maintenance and the modernization of the plants easier. The publicist and analyst Dr. Bernhard D. Valnion summarizes the key findings in a guest article.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is constantly conquering new aspects of life. We often use it, knowingly or unknowingly, in our day-to-day lives. AI-based algorithms evaluate our search queries on the Internet, recommend certain products, control the assistance systems in our cars or the household appliances in our smart homes, and much more. AI has also long since found its way into our business world. Industry 4.0 and the digital factory would be impossible without it. We are therefore also working intensively in customer and research projects on how we can use it to optimize product development, and we are developing our first AI-based applications.
