PROSTEP is presenting the new version 9.2 of its OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange platform, which offers extensive functions for integrated and automated data processing. This makes it even more comfortable to use for users and system administrators. The new features include a CAD client that allows users to send complete CAD assemblies from Windows Explorer.
The year 2020 also posed a special Challenge on PROSTEP, which we have taken on. As experts in digitalization, we are digitally well-positioned by nature and were therefore able to respond quickly to the new situation together with our customers. The coronavirus pandemic also had an impact on our business, but we saw the crisis as an opportunity and have invested in the future. We explored new (research) topics, developed new products and recruited new staff. This gives us the boost we need to get the new year off to a good start.
Online conferences can be rather tedious affairs. PROSTEP proved that it doesn’t have to be that way with its PROSTEP TECHDAY. The professionally moderated online sessions with short presentations about key new products and interesting presentations by customers offered participants a diverse and entertaining program. “The quality was almost as good as on TV,” said one of the viewers.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was not only PROSTEP TECHDAY 2020 that was held online this year but also almost every other event at which we normally make an appearance. In recent months, we have participated in numerous online events with presentations and virtual booths. The feedback was rather restrained: What our speakers missed most was contact with the other participants.
In one fell swoop, the robotics and automation specialist KUKA has migrated its SAP installation, introduced Teamcenter as its new PLM system and reorganized the entire engineering-to-order process. Crucial to the project’s success were the soft PLM migration, during which the legacy and new system coexisted for a short period, and the consistent cleansing of the data, which KUKA undertook with the assistance of PROSTEP AG. PROSTEP also accompanied KUKA during the changeover to the current Teamcenter version.
PLM consulting and software company PROSTEP was certified in accordance with TISAX and it has since extended the scope of this certification. In addition to company headquarters in Darmstadt, the branch offices in Berlin and Munich have recently also passed their TISAX audits with flying colors.
Product lifecycle management (PLM) specilist PROSTEP has developed an integrated platform concept which optimizes processes in shipbuilding and operation and forms the basis for creation of a digital twin.
How must a tool infrastructure be designed if it is to make possible smart engineering that truly satisfies the requirements of Industry 4.0? The author is of the opinion that expanding an existing IT backbone, such as PLM, into a “data hub” will only lead to the desired result if important steps in the direction of openness and agility are taken. A position paper on the prerequisites for an IT infrastructure that make the digital master and digital twin possible.
Transferring existing incorrect or incomplete data during PLM migration places a heavy burden on the new environment. The robotics and automation specialist KUKA therefore systematically cleansed its inventory of ERP and PLM data at all engineering-to-order (ETO) locations during migration of the SAP data and the simultaneous replacement of the old PDM system with Siemens’ Teamcenter solution. Our PLM integration platform OpenPDM was the driving force behind the data washing machine.
Series production of a new Zinoro, with a new energy vehicle concept, will start in autumn of this year. It represents a major milestone for BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd. (BBA), the joint venture between BMW and Brilliance China Automotive. The OpenDXM GlobalX software from PROSTEP guaranteed a secure data exchange between BBA and its partners during the development of the new Zinoro.
