The automotive industry cannot develop all the software itself

The automotive industry is facing a number of simultaneous challenges, which are usually described by the acronym CASE, which stands for Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric. In an interview with the PROSTEP Newsletter, Jens Poggenburg, a member of the management board at AVL, explains how the global automotive supplier from Graz, Austria is dealing with these challenges.

OpenDXM GlobalX SAP/ECTR

Next-generation SAP/ECTR integration in OpenDXM GlobalX

Working together with its technology partner DSC, PROSTEP has adapted the SAP/ECTR integration in its data exchange platform OpenDXM GlobalX to the new software architecture for PLM integrations. This means that customers can continue to exchange their CAD and PLM data with clients and suppliers easily and securely directly from their ECTR environment.

OpenPDM SAAS

PROSTEP makes its OpenPDM integration platform available as a SaaS offering

PROSTEP is combining the functions provided by its tried and tested solutions for data exchange, PLM integration and data linking in a modular platform that will made available as a SaaS offering. As a first step, customer can start by using the connectors to leading PLM, ERP and ALM systems as a service without having to worry about installing and operating the software.

PROSTEP Decide4ECO

Decide4ECO uses data space for sustainable product development

As part of the Manufacturing-X initiative to create trusted data spaces for manufacturing industry, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) is funding the Decide4ECO consortium project to the tune of 7.3 million euros. The consortium of partners from the world of science, IT solution providers and industrial companies, headed up by PROSTEP, recently received confirmation of the grant. The project, which will run for two and a half years, will address the question of how products can be developed and manufactured in a more sustainable manner and how this sustainability can be evaluated.

PROSTEP 30 Years

PROSTEP has been providing support to manufacturing industry for 30 years

PROSTEP, Inc., the US American subsidiary of PROSTEP Group, has recently demonstrated three integrations which allow to replication and federation of data between Dassault Systèmes’ Cameo Systems Modeler and Teamcenter from Siemens Digital Industries Software. All integrations are based on PROSTEP’s PLM integration platform OpenPDM which can also be used to connect Cameo to other vendors’ PLM solutions. OpenPDM integrates product data and processes horizontally across the product lifecycle, but also vertically across disciplines and domains, supporting ALM PLM connectivity and model-based systems engineering (MBSE). It provides a wide variety of standard connectors to different commercial PDM/PLM, ALM, ERP and IoT systems.

Successfully Anticipating Requirements for the Future

This year, PROSTEP is celebrating an anniversary that is not very common in the relatively young PLM (Product Life Cycle) industry. 30 years ago, PROSTEP’s initial focus was on topics such as STEP and CAD data exchange which evolved to include expertise in vendor neutral PLM integration. Today, Digital Twins, Digital Threads, Embedded Software, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are also central to PROSTEP’s offerings and R&D investments. At its core, PROSTEP has always been about the central challenge of strengthening our customers’ ability to innovate by improving their digital continuity.
