Integrating data exchange into the users’ working environment is the best way to ensure that they comply with data security and know-how protection rules. That’s why automotive supplier HBPO has integrated the OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange platform into SAP ECTR. In the future, it will be available not only for product developers, but also for other departments.

PROSTEP has entered into a strategic partnership with the Dutch technology company AMbrace, which is developing a service platform that makes it possible to 3D print spare parts. AMbrace will use our OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange platform to make 3D print data available in combination with SAMPL technology for the tamper-proof exchange of 3D printing licenses.
PROSTEP’s new series on SHIPBUILDING PLM INSIGHTS was launched on March 16. It was a successful start to the series: Around 150 participants watched the first episode, which focused on the added value of PDM and PLM for users of shipbuilding-specific CAD systems. In addition, our shipbuilding experts explained how shipyards can rebuild their PLM architectures more effectively.

January saw the launch of the joint project “ICT-enabled model-based impact analysis in product development”, or ImPaKT for short, which is being funded with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Within the framework of the project, PROSTEP will be extending its OpenPDM family to include a software module for the cross-domain coordination of changes and validating the functionality of the solution together with industry partners.
A growing number of companies are relying on agile approaches when developing their PLM systems to enable faster reactions to new market requirements. At the same time, they often want to outsource development activities to offshore partners for financial reasons. Two new white papers explain how PROSTEP supports customers when it comes to using agile methods and introducing agile methods in context of near- and offshoring.
PROSTEP’s PLM strategy consultants have compiled their experience from numerous consulting projects in a new whitepaper. One of their findings is that many companies are not making optimum use of their existing PLM solutions. Before looking for a new system, they should first analyze what PLM capabilities they will need in the future.
With the presentation of Release 9.2 of OpenPDM, PROSTEP has also converted and released the special migration solution OpenPDM MIGRATE to the cloud-enabled technology. Thanks to microservices architecture and the separation of mapping engine and connectors, external migration tools from PLM vendors such as PTC’s Windchill Bulk Migrator can now be flexibly integrated.
When exchanging CAD data, it is important to ensure the transfer of complete and valid assemblies, which might possibly be used for downstream operations such as conversion. PROSTEP has therefore expanded its OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange platform to include intelligent CAD analysis functions, which efficiently analyze and structure assemblies before they are transferred.
Added Value for PLM, MES, ERP Integration
Bill of material should be the connection point for traceability during core integrating between PLM, MES, and ERP. Marrying these systems facilitates data sharing for process management initiatives like lean manufacturing, cost management, resource allocation, and just-in-time inventory management. Each system within the enterprise contributes to the development of a product and requires that accurate relationships exist in support of the digital thread.
